SIG Play
The significance of play in early childhood research – an interdisciplinary perspective.
The objective of the SIG Play is to make the interdisciplinary perspective on children’s play visible by bringing researchers from different disciplines together. From an interdisciplinary standpoint, play is a key element of children’s development, health, and education—deserving greater attention in early childhood research and practice.
Activities
In summer 2025, the SIG play coordinators have issued a call for contributions for a focus publication on the topic of „play" aimed for practioners. The contributions have been submitted and the publication is scheduled to appear in spring/summer 2026. At the SIG meeting during the SSECR Annual Meeting, we will provide an overview of the contributions and discuss the implications for research and practice with the participants.
